Both teams will be starting new quarterbacks.  St. Louis’s Sam Bradford is making his NFL regular season debut. So who are good bets for fantasy picks this Sunday in this matchup? Keep in mind, these are just my opinions based on information I know. A look at the Cardinals: Safe bet: Tim Hightower – he might be the only safe bet on the offensive side of the ball on Sunday Better than average chance of doing well: Derek Anderson – hey it might be his first regular season game with the Cardinals, but he is a vet and this IS the Rams. Questionable starts: Beanie Wells – coach Ken Whisenhunt was optimistic he’d play.  I don’t like the sound of that. Larry Fitzgerald – he’ll play.  The question will be how will he respond after missing most of the preseason? St. Louis Safe bet: Steven Jackson – always a safe bet.  He did well against the Cards last year. Questionable start: Sam Bradford – if you have him and your starter is Matt Leinart, then maybe move him off the bench.  Just is a hard sell for me going into his first game.  Then again, I fully expect him to torch the Cards secondary at least once.  More I talk about it, more starting him makes sense!  Seriously though – might want to wait to see how he pans out for a few games. Now someone from USA TODAY actually thinks highly of Derek Anderson, so I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that.  Scott Zucker thinks Anderson will be the Comeback Player of the Year.  Amen! ESPN.com ranked the Cardinals 20th in their power rankings this week.  Really, 20th?  They even ranked the Washington Redskins ahead of them.  Also ranked ahead of them, the San Francisco 49′ers.  The love ESPN analysts have for the 49′ers over the Cardinals has been truly obvious during the preseason.  When listening to Cris Carter and Keyshawn Johnson a couple of weeks ago, you’d think they played for the 49ers and the Cardinals were nothing but a bunch of pansies. Rookie QB Max Hall could wind up starting games in what looks like a transition season for Arizona – Mike Sando, ESPN I love Sando and he is right, maybe Hall does get a start.  Maybe they are all right.  We need to allow the Cards to prove otherwise on the field though.  I don’t buy into the “transition” year either.  Sure, there was some roster turnover, but we didn’t become the Kansas Jayhawks in the off-season either.  We still have some great players on the defensive line and the secondary.  If anything, the Cards may have improved at each of those positions.  Yes, they took a step back at quarterback.  I get that.  Go ahead and rip me to pieces when Anderson has 3 TD”s and 10 INT’s and the Cards are 0-3 to start the season.  I’m telling you this though.  The 49ers are going to be good, no doubt in my mind.  I still believe the Cards are better and that’s just not the fan in me saying that.  Trust me, if I thought they’d suck, I’d say that.  I’ve always been honest in my opinions. With the Cardinals having the easiest schedule in the NFL and being in the NFC West, should be plenty enough to propel this team back to the playoffs. It didn’t take long for Leinart to find his new home, however reports are Houston was the only team that showed any remote interest in signing him after he was dumped by the Cardinals, his only home in his four previous NFL seasons. Leinart’s signing means the Texans had to dump one of their quarterbacks.  The odd man out: John David Booty, another USC alum.  That means Leinart will become the third quarterback for the Texans, for now. Doesn’t it seem interesting that he wasn’t willing to be the backup in Arizona, but is willing to take a third string job in Houston?  He most likely won’t be third string too long.  He needs to figure out Houston’s system though.  He will be in the wings waiting, probably for a while too, with starter Matt Schaub running things for the Texans offense. It is a fresh start for Leinart though.  At least he has found a home and can earn a weekly paycheck.  I’ve always gotten the sense though it is much more about playing rather than the paycheck for him, that’s what makes this move interesting to me.  I realize no one else was willing to take a flyer on him, but he grabbed the first thing that came along. For Leinart, I hope it works out, I really do.  Maybe he can find the happiness in Houston he couldn’t find in Arizona?  Would he have been better served by waiting for a team that needed another quarterback?  Maybe.  This will give him another chance.  He may not see the football field in 2010, but at least he gets to see a locker room. Last season, the channel debuted on DirectTV and on several cable service companies.  If you live in the Phoenix area though, most of you that don’t have satellite,  have Cox Cable as your cable provider.  I use the term provider in this article VERY loosely. When it was announced last month that Cox Communications had come to an agreement to carry the NFL RedZone channel, I was excited!  I was disappointed that it wasn’t carried last year, but with it being in the first year, I understood.  A spin-off of Sunday NFL Ticket, this channel is the bomb!  It gives you live in the red zone action from every game every Sunday. I had read online that the RedZone channel was being offered for $39.99.  Not too bad.  However I also read on where there was going to be an early bird special for $24, which would be billed in four separate installments.  I called, I was denied the offer.  Why?  Because I live in the Phoenix area, not San Diego. Apparently, according to Cox, is each market has different prices, different pricing structures, agreements, blah blah blah.  What a bunch of crap!  The Red Zone channel is ONE channel, offered by Cox in several different markets.  Why should that channel be priced differently just because I live in Arizona.  Why do they get a break in San Diego?  Not that they don’t deserve it either.  I’m just saying, what fits for one, should fit for all.  Apparently the demand is so high, call volumes are high, or so I am told by a supervisor that totes the company line. I called Cox and was told I could order over the phone or online.  I decided to order online so I could take a closer look at it, except I couldn’t find it.  I got on an email chat with a Cox representative that had no time for me and disconnected his chat screen after 15 minutes without saying anything but “one moment please”. I got back on with another rep of Cox and that person just toted the company line ” oh sorry for the confusion blah blah blah….”  I was told I could not get it for $24.  I was told I had to pay the $39.99 and pay it all at once.  Again, what a bunch of crap.  Only Pay-Per-View do you have to pay everything like that at once. You can go get ESPN Gameplan, NHL Center ICE, MLB Extra Innings, and NBA Center Court all on installments.  Heck you can even get Sunday NFL Ticket that way as well.  I complained about it on Cox’s Facebook page and was told I could get help by emailing supervisors at Cox.  I was provided an email address.  I emailed.  I got the company line of “sorry, but..”.  Exactly the response I expected to get.  Bottom line is, your local Cox representative doesn’t care about anything other than their bottom line. Customer service these days is awful.  I work in customer service everyday, so I can spot good and bad service rather quickly.  Now, I don’t ask for the world.  I just want the same piece of it that someone, say, in San Diego gets.  Is that too much to ask?  I don’t think so.  So, buyer beware if you have Cox in Arizona and were thinking about getting NFL RedZone. It’s either a switch to DirectTV or off to the sports bars for me!!!  Two days till kickoff! The Matt Leinart “I’m just glad I have an NFL Job” division: 32.  Cleveland Browns – it’s hard to imagine the Browns getting worse, until you sign Jake Delhomme as your QB, lose your top running back to a season-ending injury, and Browns legend Jim Brown so despising what is happening he isn’t even going attend his own ring of honor ceremony.  Sad.  Just sad. 31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – they did nothing to improve.  At least they should beat Cleveland this week. 30. Buffalo Bills – when rookie CJ Spiller is the ONLY reason to watch, you have issues. 29. St. Louis Rams – Sam Bradford might be able to move this team up this season.  Too bad the supporting cast still is awful. 28. Detroit Lions – they have too much talent to suck much longer. 27. Kansas City Chiefs – when Matt Cassel is a better option than Matt Leinart, the guy who started ahead of him at USC, that says volumes. 26. Jacksonville Jaguars – coach Jack Del Rio hanging on by a thread.  So is the team in Jacksonville. 25. Oakland Raiders – They probably pick up a couple more wins this season thanks to the addition of Jason Campbell. 24. Seattle Seahawks – Could be dangerous only carrying two QB’s with Matt Hasselbeck being prone to injury. 23. Washington Redskins – they have a team loaded with players that should consider themselves lucky to still be playing. The don’t forget about us division: 22. Denver Broncos - might be calling for Tim Tebow before the season ends 21. Chicago Bears – they had all off-season to replace Jay Cutler.  They didn’t.  All off-season to get a WR.  They didn’t. 20. Carolina Panthers – could be John Fox’s last season in Carolina. 19. Miami Dolphins – on the border of good and mediocre. 18. Houston Texans – how many more seasons should we pick them to make the playoffs yet miss barely? The Pretenders division: 17. New York Giants – Giants may return to form.  They need to resolve RB issues. 16. Tennessee Titans – Vince Young is on his way to returning the Titans to the playoffs.  Maybe not this year though. The Wild Card division: 15. Atlanta Falcons – Would the real Matt Ryan please stand up? 14. Philadephia Eagles – Eagles have a great shot at being a wild-card.  How will Kevin Kolb fare? 13. San Francisco 49′ers – the Niners will challenge Arizona for NFC West title, but may have to settle for Wild Card. 12. Pittsburgh Steelers – QB position all muttled up, but they have all the other positions pretty well shored up for a divisional run The Contenders division: 11. New England Patriots – Patriots look to make another run.  Had better hope to keep Randy Moss happy though. 10. Cincinnati Bengals – can the double headed monster of Ohcocinco and T.O. bring happiness to Cincy? 9. Arizona Cardinals – Most likely wins NFC West.  Who will QB the playoffs though.  Derek Anderson or Max Hall? 8. Baltimore Ravens – I love the new weapons on offense.  Look forward to seeing some Ravens offensive points this season. 7. Minnesota Vikings – Never know how far Brett Favre can take you.  Don’t bet against him. 6. New York Jets – TGFDR.  That’s Thank God For Darrelle Revis.  Jets are. The Elite 5.
