    <title>Who Could Be Put on to the Prospects List? Dunedin Edition</title>
    <description>

Was going to look for prospects from all the A teams but Dunedin had a number of players that could deserve &amp;nbsp;consideration as to get one our list. So we'll look at the other A-ball teams next week.&amp;nbsp;
Eric Thames: An 8th round draft pick in 2008, he had a great season in Dunedin, cut short by injury. He hit .313/.386/.487. 22 years old this year, without the injury he likely would have moved up to Double-A, with luck he'll make it through next year without the injuries and end up in Triple-A by the end of the season.
Brian Van Kirk: Started the year at Lansing, moved up to Dunedin and then New Hampshire. Between the 3 stops he hit .265/.373/.434. But he is 24 now, so would have to move up quickly. Showed decent power with 15 homers.
Jonathan Jaspe: Catcher, played the season at Dunedin, hit decent (.271/.319/.416). Switch hitter that doesn't take walks and at 24 was too old for the level but looks to have a heck of an arm, throwing out 38% of base stealers. Not hitting much at winter ball in Venezuela (.235/.316/.294). Not much of a prospect unless he jumps a couple of levels next year.
Bradley McElroy: A late round draft pick from London, ON in 2008. Lefty hitting CFer with speed. Made it to Dunedin in his first full year of professional ball. Hit pretty good at Dunedin (.269/.390/.400), knows how to take a walk. 15 steals. 24 next year so a long shot as a prospect.
Adam Loewan: Maybe a better story than a prospect, but did ok in his first season as a hitter in the minors. Starting him in High-A Dunedin, hit .236/.340/.355. He is not doing much in winter ball (.200/.296/.300). 25 now, who knows what might happen.
Trystan Magnuson: A first round draft pick in 2007, didn't look great as a starter last year, looked better as a reliever this year. Had a 2.77 ERA in 38 games in Dunedin and then moved up to New Hampshire and didn't give up a run in 10 innings there.
Ryan Page: Picked up in the 20th round of the 2008, not really a prospect yet but had a good year in Dunedin, going 11-13 with a 3.88 ERA in 28 starts. A big, 6'3&quot;, lefty who didn't strikeout many (only 4.8/9) but didn't give up many walks (1.6/9) or many homers (0.4/9). 24 next year and behind at least half a dozen other lefty starters in the organization but if he can bring up the strikeouts next year while keeping the walks and homers down, he could force his way on to the prospects lists.
Charles Huggins: Yet another lefty starter (do we just have lefty starters?), picked up in the 23rd round of the 2008 draft, started the year in Lansing and was great for 7 starts, a 1.57 ERA. Then moved up to Dunedin and continued to pitch well, 5-3, 3.25 ERA. Knows how to strike batters out (8.3/9) and didn't walk many (2.8/9). Again, likely not yet a big prospect but just 23, if he continues like this then he's got a shot.

    <title>Thursday Bantering: Roster Move, Ticket Prices and the Halladay Rumor Du Jour</title>
    <description>

The Jays have added Reider Gonzalez to their 40-man roster which protects him from being picked up in the Rule 5 draft. We talked about Reider yesterday, he's a likely add to our top prospects list. He was 4-6 with a 2.90 ERA in 17 starts at New Hampshire last year.
Robert MacLeod in the Globe and Mail has a story saying the 'may' increase&amp;nbsp;single game ticket prices. I'm not sure if this move by the Jays falls under the heading Chutzpeh or Chutzpidity. You've told the fans you aren't going to win and you've suffered through a season where attendance was down. Is the plan to play in front of no one this year?
Over in the Star, Morgan Campbell has a story about a guy that was told his&amp;nbsp;season tickets would go up in price:

Last season, Woitzik, a lawyer from Whitby, paid $3,823.92 for a pair of season tickets, but the renewal notice he received this week said the same two seats would now cost $5,964.84.

If you don't understand how that could happen, you aren't alone. Here is the explanation:

Jason Diplock, vice-president of ticket sales and service, said the club re-zoned six sections near the field in the left- and right-field corners, making them the same price as more expensive sections along the baselines.
He and president Paul Beeston knew the move would rankle some fans, but Diplock said they contained the price change within the sections with the fewest season ticket holders.
Diplock points out that 99.2 per cent of season ticket holders will pay the same price as last year, while the price hike affects roughly two dozen season ticket holders.

You the the feeling that 99.2% of season ticket holders will be saving 100% of the ticket price cause they won't be buying. Does it seem to anyone else that a public relations class could be taught to the Jays? pretty good
Jays Bob Nightengale from USA Today has said on twitter that the Dodgers are 'focusing on' Roy Halladay. Chad Billingsley would be the centerpiece of their offer, he is&amp;nbsp;pretty good, gotta like pitchers that strike out a batter an inning and he was only 24 last season. I wonder if Doc would want to go to LA, I hear it's fine, the sun shines all the time and the feeling is laid back.

    <title>Blue Jays and Blogs</title>
    <description>

Yesterday the Drunks gave their&amp;nbsp;Guide to Tank Nation. There was a suggestion at the end that kind of interested me.

Invite two or three blogs, each homestand, to cover a game or two, assign a media officer to them, and show them the ropes. Yeah, the old media guys are going to give you dirty looks for it, but invite them to giv e the bloggers advice as well. And anyway, should the team really care what print journalists think? It's not like their precious newspapers are going to be around much longer anyway. I kid. I kid.

It is similar to something I've been saying for a while, that the Jays could/should pay a bit more attention to us blogs. We are fans, we are doing the team a service. And we are hoping the team succeeds.&amp;nbsp;
That said, I really don't want to position us closer to the mass media. I don't want full access to the team, I don't want to be in the locker room or the press box. I don't want to be an 'insider'. I don't want to know that Kevin Millar is really a great guy in the locker room. Until they start giving runs for what guys do in the clubhouse, I want to just continue to care about what they do on the field. I can just see it though, 'Millar was the hero in today's game, he went 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts and committed an error that led to 2 runs scoring, but in the clubhouse he hit a grand slam to win the game.'
The mainstream media does a good job at telling us who the good guys are and who they don't like. I don't want my view of Cito or Alex Anthopoulos clouded by the fact that they are really nice people nor do I want to dislike a player because they snubbed me for an interview. Leave that to Jamie Campbell and the beat writers. I'd like to keep our focus on what happens on the field and what moves the team makes.
That said, we do do the team a service here and it would be nice if they would acknowledge us. By us I mean the blogs, not just our blog. Would it be bad if the team made someone available for an interview, now and then. I mean if Alex talked to us he wouldn't have to worry about us putting a spin on his words, we'd just post them and he can talk to the fans directly without a writer filtering his thoughts through their perspective. Doesn't have to be the GM, could be anyone in the organization that has a few moments to let us know where the team stands on a few things. Or like the Drunks suggest, give us a few days sometime where we do have some access.
We aren't the enemy. We want the best for the team, we aren't going to spend every post trying to get the GM fired because we think we should have the job. We aren't going to roast them, unless, you know, we feel they need roasting.

Jon Heyman at SI.com wrote about&amp;nbsp;who might trade for Doc&amp;nbsp;today. He ranks the teams he think are mostly likely to get Halladay in this order:

1.Yankees
1A. Red Sox
2. Blue Jays
3. Phillies
4. Angels
5. Mets
He might be right, though I'd think that the Dodgers still might have a shot. Maybe Colorado too. I can see the point of trying to get the Red Sox and Yankees competing against each other over him. Anyway, I thought we'd run a poll, so let us know who you think Roy Halladay will be pitching for this coming season. For extra points and bragging rights use the comments area to let us know who the Jays will receive in return for Doc. If anyone comes close to calling it, we'll work out some sort of prize.&amp;nbsp;

    <title>Who Could Be Put on the Prospect List? Part One.</title>
    <description>

We took a look at the guys that were on our prospect list last year, to see which ones should move up or down on the list, now let's take a look at guys that weren't on last year's list and maybe could be this year. We'll look at the guys in that were in Triple and Double-A today and look at the possible prospects from A-ball tomorrow.
Brian Dopirak: Last year, when we put together the list, Dopirak was a minor league free agent, so we didn't know he'd still be in the organization this year. He started the year at Double-A New Hampshire and hit .308/.374/.576 in 87 games. Moved up to Las Vegas he hit .330/.366/.509 there. This winter he is playing in Venezuela and is clubbing the ball there too, hitting .287/.377/.504. He'll be 26 next month, so he's a bit old for a prospect but we keep hearing Lyle Overbay trade rumors, so there might be a spot for him on the Jays next year. &amp;nbsp;Playing in Vegas gives a huge edge to the hitter so his minor league equivalents aren't that exciting, his minor league year equivalents for as about a .262/.308/.440 line in Toronto with about 20 homers.
Randy Ruiz:&amp;nbsp; Honestly I can't consider a 32 year old a prospect, but he had a heck of a year in Vegas (.320/.392/.584) and then followed that up with a great month and a bit in Toronto (313/.385/.635). Vegas is such a hitter friendly spot that his equivalents aren't great: .255/.306/.447. I like the idea of him taking Millar's role next year. He can't possibly be any worst defensively and likely will be some better offensively, but hoping he hits like last year would be expecting a lot. He hit 35 homers last year between the minors and majors; he's never hit 30 in a season before, in 11 minor league seasons, so I'd guess this is the outlier. He could do a nice job platooning with Overbay, but if the team trades Overbay, I think it would be likely Dopirak would get the first base job and he hits righty too. In that case I'm not sure where Ruiz would fit.
Aaron Mathews: Not really a prospect at all, he'll be 28 next year, but if there isn't a move made over the winter he might have a shot at the fourth outfielder job.&amp;nbsp; Hit .274/.321/.380.
Fabio Castro: Started the year great, and some of us wanted to see him get a chance with the team. The hot streak ended. He finished with a pretty decent ERA (4.49) in Vegas but in 142.1 innings he only struck out 81 and walked 64, not exactly the numbers of a prospect. He is pitching well in winter ball in the Dominican Republic with a 2.73 ERA in 6 starts. He's a minor league free agent now so we don't know if he'll be in the organization next year. Will be 25 next year.
Zach Stewart: You know the story, we got him in the Scott Rolen trade. He was drafted in 2008 and was used out of the bullpen last year. This year he made 14 starts between A and Double-A, then was moved to the pen when he moved up to Triple-A, presumably to keep his number of innings down.&amp;nbsp; Between the 3 levels and 4 teams he had a 4-1 record with a 1.89 ERA. He pitched 105 innings, struck out 93 and walked just 32. He will be 23 next year and we might see him in Toronto at some point. He is a terrific prospect.
Randy Boone:&amp;nbsp; He started the year at New Hampshire and made 23 starts there before moving up to Vegas at the end of the year. He was 9-8 with a 3.70 ERA, 129 innings, 90 K's and 42 walks at Double-A.&amp;nbsp; He'll be 25 next year.&amp;nbsp; He's at the back end of about a dozen guys that could start for us, but he could make it at some point.
Darin Mastroianni: A CFer who was drafted in the 16th round of the 2007 draft and started last year at Dunedin and moved up to Double-A New Hampshire mid-way through the year. He hit very well at Dunedin (.325/.436/.390) and continued to hit well at Double-A (.271/.372/.340). He stole 70 bases between the two and plays a decent CF. Speed and the ability to get on base is a good combination. No power but then we could always use a good leadoff hitter. He's not doing great in winter ball in Phoenix (.231/.319/.256) in 11 games.
Luis Perez: 24 year old left-handed starter at New Hamshire last year he was 9-11 with a 3.55 ERA. Struck out 112 and walk 67 in 162 innings. The line of lefty starters is pretty long on our team but Perez has a shot in the next couple of years.
Reidier Gonzalez: A right-handed pitcher Reidier was drafted in the 19th round of the 2005 draft and has moved up slowly through our minor league system.&amp;nbsp; After going 12-4 in Dunedin in 2008 he was 4-6 with a 2.90 ERA in 17 starts in New Hamshire this year. He struck out 67 and walked 25 in 93 innings. He turned 24 at the start of the month, so it would be good to see him move up to Triple-A next year.
Kenny Rodriguez: &amp;nbsp;A Cuban right-hander we signed before the 2008 season. He started the year in Dunedin going 6-3 with a 2.43 ERA there and moved up to New Hampshire going 4-5 with a 4.50 ERA. Between the 2 teams he struck out 7.7/9 innings while walking 3.7/9 innings. He'll be 25 next year but if he can get to Triple-A next year he's got a shot. May end up moving into the pen to make the majors but we'll see.
Daniel Farquhar: Started the year as closer at Dunedin and after 17 appearances and a 0.53 ERA he moved up to be closer at New Hampshire where he had a 2.36 ERA in 37 games. Between the two he struck out 10.6/9 but he walked too many 5.9/9. He didn't walk near as many in 2008 but then he didn't strikeout as many then either. He's just 22 and throws hard. He's only 5'10&quot; and 170 lb.&amp;nbsp;

The vote was similar to our SB Nation vote. The writers had Joe Girardi 3rd and we had Wakamatsu 3rd. The writers didn't have anyone vote for Trey Hillman, so maybe they are smarter after all.

There is another Thursday game this week so I'm putting up the pool today. Last week's winner was Aa Goodfellow who got 10 of 15. Congratulations. &amp;nbsp;Craig in Calgary and I did the worst this week getting just 6 right. Oh well, can't win every week Craig.
