Art Schlichter to be Sentenced Today in Ticket-Selling Scheme

A federal judge is scheduled Friday to sentence former Ohio State and NFL quarterback Art Schlichter in a fraud case stemming from a million-dollar ticket-selling scheme.

The 52-year-old Schlichter has been in jail since January after authorities said he violated the conditions of his bond by testing positive for cocaine use while on house arrest.

Schlichter, a former Indianapolis Colts quarterback, faces about 10 years in prison for the sports ticket fraud when he appears before U.S. District Court Judge Michael Watson in Columbus.

The judge postponed Schlichter’s sentencing earlier this year and agreed to give him more time to have his mental health assessed after a follow-up appointment was canceled when Schlichter was arrested for the alleged...
