For college students, Thanksgiving is the chance to recharge your batteries so you can finish the semester. It's a time to reflect and then move forward.
During that reflection period, I couldn't help but also think about the Wizards. And when I did, the inevitable question was what to do with our roster going forward.
Before the injuries to Brendan Haywood and Gilbert Arenas, I thought the plan was pretty simple. I figured we'd just go with what we had in 2009, assuming that, with good health, this team could win 45-50 games and challenge for the second round of the playoffs. Then, in the summer of 2009 and during 2010, we could pawn off two of our 2010 expiring contracts (Etan Thomas, Antonio Daniels), throw in a youngster or two and make a move for an impact player on a team looking to rebuild and join the 2010 frenzy.
