USF has added two walk-ons to its fall roster, with kicker Eric Schwartz rejoining the Bulls after practicing this spring and return specialist Faron Hornes joining the team from Butler Community College in Kansas.
Schwartz, a junior from Hudson who kicked in USF's spring game, will give the Bulls another strong leg in the absence of sophomore Maikon Bonani, who is expected to miss the 2009 season after injuring his back in a fall two weeks ago. Hornes, 5-foot-7 and 176 pounds, will work as a slot receiver but could make an impact as a speedy punt returner.
"I'll be out there on Wednesday," said Hornes, who is in the process of being admitted to USF but will have three years of eligibility. "Being close to home is a good thing for me, so I'm excited."
Hornes averaged 30.2 yards per punt return as a senior at Bradenton Southeast in 2005 and drew interest from schools like UAB, Memphis and Colorado before choosing the Bulls. He has his associate of arts degree...
