The Sixers feel they have a 3-point threat now that they acquired Jason Kapono from the Raptors for Reggie Evans.
They do. But don't get too excited. Kapono, like former Sixer Kyle Korver, is not good enough defensively to warrant regular minutes. He is a 20-minute per game guy throughout his career, and that won't change this coming season.
What will change is that the Sixers desperately needed somebody, anybody, to hit a 3-pointer and stretch the defense, especially with Eddie Jordan's Princeton offense. So, obviously, Kapono is better than not doing anything.
But if you're expecting a Ben Gordon type of player, forget it. Kapono has never averaged more than 10.9 points per game, and that was his only season averaging double figures. He averaged 7.2 points per game last season and 7.3 for his career.
Still, he's the most prolific 3-point shooter in NBA...
